Information on Mushroom Farming

Before you start growing mushrooms, you’ll need to figure out how much you want to produce and how much space you’ll need. You may easily grow 1 to 4 kg of mushrooms from one medium mushroom packet.

If you just want to get started and see if you can make a mushroom business work, you’ll need 300 square feet.

Yes, keep in mind that the location where you will start your mushroom business is close to the market. You can start at the back of the home if you want, but the area must be entirely closed.

Aspects of mushroom cultivation that must be present

To cultivate it, you must first grow mushrooms, which can be done in three ways:

Constructing a bed

If you’re just getting started, attempt to establish a mushroom business with as little money as possible. If you like, you can make a bamboo bed in the shape of a bed to keep the mushrooms on. This approach is also incredibly inexpensive and accessible.

Mushroom farming can also be done at home.

The mushroom packet is maintained hanging in this technique. This method allows you to grow the most mushrooms in the smallest amount of area. I’ve included an image to help you understand what I’m talking about.

The packet or seed of mushroom is produced in this way by placing it at a modest height from the ground and leaving it there without any support.

At the surface, mushrooms sprout.

Mushrooms Come in a Variety of Shapes and Sizes

Species of mushrooms

In India, two species of mushrooms are commonly used:

  • Oyster Mushrooms
  • Button Mushroom

You choose which mushroom to grow because each has its own set of benefits, market demand, and pricing. By the way, there’s a fungus called a button mushroom.

Spawn of Mushrooms

It’s also known as mushroom ka bij (seed). This seed is used to grow mushrooms. Although you can raise spawn, it is preferable to purchase spawn from a neighboring center. Once your mushroom company grows, you can consider creating spawn.

Bags made of plastic

You’ll also need a plastic bag to assemble and knot the mushroom packs. This procedure is exclusively applicable to Oyster Mushrooms. If you want to grow button mushrooms, you’ll have to go about it in a different method.

The plastic bag will be thicker and more durable than a regular bag. It’s available for purchase at the local market. I instructed the shopkeeper to tie the mushroom packet with thick plastic that could support a weight of 5 to 8 kg.

Straw

The following step is to organize the straw. You can find out where the straw is located by contacting the nearest cowherd (milk person). Take 5 to 6 large straws and keep them at first.

This amount will suffice for the time being. It’s important to remember that the straw shouldn’t be too big or too little. A straw with a diameter of 1/2 inch will suffice.

Pulverize the chaff as needed in a large bucket or tub, then add a fair amount of water and leave it overnight. It also requires the addition of a liquid (you can inquire about it from a mushroom farmer).

After leaving it in the tub overnight, take it out and let the water run off before placing it in the sun for 2 to 4 hours. It’s important to remember that the straw shouldn’t be totally wet or completely dry.

Lift it and bring it inside, where it will be tied in a package, spread it on top of the plastic, and leave it with the fan running for 2 to 3 hours to evaporate any extra moisture.

Keep in mind that the straw should be stored in a clean area. The best way to tell if the straw is ready is to hold it in your fist and check if any water drips out.

If the water does not fall when you firmly grasp the straw in your fist, the straw is ready to tie the mushroom packet.

From below, tie the plastic with a plastic rope (if the plastic is cut from below).

Fill it by spreading straw up to 1/2 inch thick and sprinkling mushroom spawn around the perimeter. Give pulses to 20 to 25 mushroom spawn seeds spread in the centre.

Pour another 1/2 inch of straw over it, then pulse the mushroom spawn on the side once more. Then repeat the process 6 to 8 times more for a total of 6 to 8 layers.

Keep in mind to carefully press the straw while filling it. Now knot it properly with a small amount of mushroom span from above.

Now pierce it with a clean little object (wooden or pin) from place to place in the plastic so that the mushroom can be removed. Your mushroom pack is now complete. , now hang it where ever you want.
