Moong Cultivation 2022: Read this if you plan to plant moong in Zayed

Moong is a popular pulse crop that is grown throughout Rajasthan. Zayed Moong cultivation is advantageous in locations with high water holding capacity, catchment areas, and sandy loam, black, and yellow soils with good water holding ability. Zayed Moong can be sown between the 15th of February and the 15th of March, with some types (such as SML 668 and others) being sown till the end of March. For germination to occur, the soil must be at the right temperature. Moong crop takes 60-65 days to mature. Its cultivation aids in the preservation of the land’s fertility while also providing additional income to the farmer brothers during the season between Rabi and Kharif.

Moong cultivars that have been improved

Choose high-yielding Zayed Moong varieties. IPM-2-3 Satya (MH-2-15), K-851, Pusa Baisakhi, SML-668, S.-8, S.-9, R.M.G..-62, RMG-268, RMG-344 (Dhanu), RMG-492, PDM-11, Ganga-1 (Jamnotri), Ganga-8 (Gangotri), and MUM-2 are some examples of cultivars that mature in 60-65 days and yield 10-15 quintal per

Preparation of the Farm

Prepare the field for sowing by ploughing it once or twice as needed.

Treatment of the land

Before sowing, put quinolphos 1.5 per cent powder at a rate of 25 kg per hectare in the soil to avoid underground pests and termites.

Sowing and seed amount

For a hectare of land, 15-20 kilogrammes of seed is sufficient. Maintain a 25-30 cm row-to-row distance and a 10-15 cm plant-to-plant distance.

Treatment of seeds

Sow 3 grammes Parad fungicide or Captan, 2 grammes Thiram or Bavistin (Carbendazim), or 5 grammes Imidacloprid per kg seed to protect moong seeds from seed-borne diseases (e.g. Ukhta, scorch, etc.).

Aside from that, the seeds were combined with Rhizobium culture (3 packets of 200 grammes per hectare seed) before being treated with PSB. Sow the culture (3 packets of 200 grammes per hectare for seed) and then treat with organic fungicide Trichoderma at a rate of 6-8 grammes per kilogramme seed, as recommended by the department.

Rhizobium-cultured seed treatment method

To treat the seeds with Rhizobium, heat one litre of water and 250 grammes of jaggery, then add three packets of 200 grammes of herb culture once it has cooled. Seeds put in one hectare of this combination should be properly coated and dried in the shade before being sown.

Fertilizers and manures

In the moong crop, fertiliser control is also crucial. 250 kg gypsum should be applied before sowing, and 25 kg zinc sulphate should be applied at the time of sowing. Sulfur and zinc are used to shape and shine the grains. At the time of sowing, 90-kilogramme DAP and 10 kg urea, or 250 kg single super phosphate and 45 kg urea, should be applied to the moong crop.

Weeding

Sprinkle 750 mL of fluchloralin on the moong crop before sowing and rake it in; otherwise, weeding should be done after 25-30 days of sowing to avoid weeds and conserve moisture.

Irrigation

Irrigation is critical in the moong crop before blooming (at 30-35 days) and in the bean crop during grain development (at 40-50 days). If necessary, provide more irrigation based on the temperature and moisture in the soil.

Crop security

If a moyla, green oil, or pod borer infestation occurs in the moong crop, Azadirachtin 0.03 per cent EC is used. 1.5 litres or 0.03 per cent EC Azadirachtin 300 ml per acre of a 750 ml solution sprayed in water

If a spot bacterial disease epidemic occurs in moong, make a solution of 20 grammes streptocycline and 1.25 kg copper oxychloride and spray it per hectare.

Uproot the infected plants and apply dimethoate 30 EC if you have yellow vein mosaic disease in moong. Make a solution of one litre of medication in 300 litres of water and spray it. Spraying can be repeated at a 15-day interval if necessary.

To prevent Chhaya disease, use the first spray of 2.5 kg soluble sulphur or one-litre caratheon (0.1%) solution per hectare as soon as symptoms develop, followed by a second spray 10 days later.

As soon as signs of jaundice occur, make a solution of 0.1 per cent sulfuric acid or 0.5 per cent ferrous sulphate in water and spray it on the affected area.

Threshing and Harvesting

Cut the moong crop before the beans crackle when it’s mature. After threshing, dry the crop thoroughly in the barn for 10-15 days before removing the grain.

In this way, sophisticated agricultural practises in Zayed can provide 10-15 quintals per hectare of moong output.

Things to keep in mind when sowing for the Zayed Moong crop

  • ┬áSoil and seed treatment is required.
  • Organic fertilisers are used (culture).
  • Apply fertilisers in the indicated amounts and at the proper times. Make certain to utilise Basel.
