- Use kinds that have been approved for your area. In Madhya Pradesh, gram should be planted around the middle of October. Sowing can be done until November if irrigation is available.
- Three days prior to seed treatment, seed treatment is required. It boosts the crop’s yield.
- Rhizobium is a seed treatment used by farmers.
- If there is a Sulphur and zinc deficiency in the crop, sulfur-containing fertilizers and zinc should be applied in the right amounts.
- It would be OK to use fertilizers, according to the recommendation, unless the result can be seen in the crop’s production and excellent quality.
- Weeding is necessary to loosen and friable the soil.
- 30 to 35 days following sowing, weed management should be performed.
- If there is an iron deficit, 3 kg ferrous sulphate 600 ml per hectare is recommended. Teipol should be dissolved in 600 liters of water.
- If there is standing water, make drainage arrangements.

Along with gram, the following crops are cultivated in this proportion

- At the time of planting, use 20:50-60:40 kg NPK per acre.
- Fertilizing 15 to 20 bullock carts every three years will be useful.
- Plants that receive too much nitrogen grow faster, but their yield suffers.
- At the germination stage, there should be no nitrogen deficiency so that nitrogen fixation bacteria can thrive.
Chickpeas are grown as non-irrigated crops, although if irrigation is available, light irrigation can be done. If irrigation is available, it should be used prior to flowering to ensure greater flowering and a higher yield.
